Light
in the Forest
The Northern
California coast is a magical place. There are few remaining groves of
ancient redwood trees. Some of these giant trees have survived for 2000
years and tower over 350 feet. The forest helps me feel in harmony with
the amazing natural world we live in. I got lucky on this morning and had
a blanket of fog appear for sunrise. The fog lasted for 30 minutes and
then disappeared as fast as it arrived.

Tips:
The
little man in the corner of this picture is 6 foot tall me. The little
man provides scale with a familiar reference. It helps the viewer get a
better idea of how massive these redwood trees are. The next trick was
to select a bright sunny spot where I wouldn't blend into the background.
I composed my picture with my camera on a tripod, set the timer, hit the
cable release, and ran into position.
The
cool thing was seeing this picture used in an article called "Light of
Consciousness". It arrived this week. Little mini me in an magazine about
living in the presence of God. Ansel Adams said: "Sometimes I arrive just
when God's ready to have someone take the picture". I sure arrived in time
for this morning fog. Thank You! Timing is Everything. |
