California
Wine Country - Harvest Oak
Fall
is one of my favorite times of the year to take pictures. The fall colors
are brilliant and warm. I used to think about colorful aspens and cottonwoods
in the high Sierrra. Now I know I can see beautiful displays close to home.
Fall colors arrive in the California wine country in shades of yellow,
orange, red and burgandy. The fields are a blaze with color and the air
is fragrant with grapes on the vine.

Tips
Sunset
is a dramatic time to photograph fall colors. The light at the end of the
day is called "golden light". I used the late day sun to back light the
grape vines. The vines seem to glow in beautifully saturated colors. My
photo tip is to find your spot and wait for the golden light to enhance
your scene. The star burst is created when your aperture is set to F11
or smaller. A bountiful harvest comes to those who wait for golden light. |
